Why does every bitcoin mixer have an onion link?
Darknet is a network layer in which data and requests are transmitted in enhanced encryption. The darknet is often associated with crime, drugs, and weapons. Is it so? And why almost every secure bitcoin mixer has a representation on the dark side of the force - let's try to figure it out.
A bit of theory
The Internet, familiar to most users, is just the tip of a colossal iceberg. It is called the "deep" web, and the common web browsers do not index its pages. In addition to the usual sites, the network stores enormous amounts of information closed by secure algorithms and stored in clouds and data centers, and its
At the very bottom lies the dark web. But it darkened not because of crimes and vices but only because of a particular algorithm of work.
The most famous shadow network is TOR (The Onion Router). Why onion? It's a matter of transmission. Each request is wrapped in several encrypted information layers. When transmitting along the route on "onion" hosts, the following shell is "removed." That is, it is decrypted - it stores the following address. Thus, the total composition of the package is unknown from beginning to end, and it is impossible to trace it.
Paradoxically, the technology was invented in the US Department of War research laboratory. Initially, the technology was to be used for military purposes. But the authors made it public to protect all people's rights and privacy.
TOR is often used by official resources (e.g., social networks, BBC) to be present in totalitarian countries.
Bitcoin Mixer on the Dark Web
The presence of any mixer in the shadow network is considered good manners. The very purpose of the mixer is to preserve the owner's privacy by making it difficult for tracking algorithms to work. As soon as bitcoin enters the global financial system, you can forget its anonymity. However, this does not mean that every currency owner should be registered. It is often dangerous for life and health. After all, other people's goods are attractive to ordinary robbers and a completely different category of criminals (and not only).
Imagine that all people carry money in transparent wallets. Let them be acceptable only for state and financial figures. It is more than enough to cause unhealthy desires. Taxes are only a tiny part of what sometimes has to be shared. This alignment does not satisfy any sane person.
In the reality of 2020, many challenges and innovations go unnoticed due to the pandemic. But from time to time, messages about blocking exchange clients, new decrees from regulators, and news about the implementation of tracking algorithms slip through the press. For the most part, the average owner of small amounts, who wants to engage in trading, learns about such sanctions only at the time of the "privatization" of his funds by the exchange. And the reason is the "illegal" origin of the coins. Long and hard will have to return their assets. And so far, there has been no news of successful completion of the proceedings.
This common sense and the desire to be in trend justifies users' and mixers' presence on the dark web.
Authorities and the Darknet
For any state to fight crime, it is much easier to establish total control than to deal with each case. When it comes to the dark web, the presumption of innocence does not work. Anyone who wants to hide their privacy is automatically considered a criminal. That's right, what do you hide from the powers that be? Income, privacy? And what is it about them that others do not know about?
This confrontation will never end. A person seeks to close his private and the state and vice versa. This makes it easier to control and ensure security. It is easier to manage an ant colony than a set of individuals.
The bitcoin mixer, which (already proven by research) is much less likely to be a tool to hide illegal income than the regular dollar. It is also often seen as a front behind which hundreds of thousands of users try to "swindle" their illicit financial affairs. However, it is not. Bitcoin mixer for users of their world becomes almost the only available way to get into the exchanges that actively block "suspicious" clients. And it doesn't matter where and when you purchased the e-currency.
It is the reason for the presence of mixers on the dark web. And not the pathological desire of their owners to appropriate interest from all the "black" incomes of the world. In the end, one can only be perplexed if we compare their income with the profits of the ruling elite (who do not mainly hide their machinations).
Darknet reputation
Yes, there are also illegal resources in the "shadow." The sensational network "Silk Road" and others like it significantly "tarnished" the reputation of the secure Internet. However, it never occurs to anyone to blame dollars for criminals' use. Or the gateway, where when and a passerby was robbed. So far, the darknet is allowed in most countries, particularly in Russia. Illegal activities are prohibited in it - and this is quite logical. But the psychology of the "herd" is brought up by the mass layman: since a person goes to the darknet, it means that he has something to hide, and he is full of bad intentions. It harms the network's reputation, but you must understand that such a position is beneficial. One day this will give a reason to say that there are only criminals on the dark web, and it needs to be closed. There is already an example - the notorious Telegram. Attitude towards the darknet and mixers is a personal matter for everyone. You can perceive them as the root of global evil, but only this is a reason to think - is not a safe state totalitarian? And isn't it better to look for methods of investigating crimes than to break the gateway where it can happen?
